Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre with Barking and Dagenham Homeless Hostels are now working in partnership with S.M.I.L.E London - Essex who have a sucessful history of working with Homeless Hostels & Shelters.

Maria Rachley explains :-

We are connected with many homeless shelters and Hostels in Havering, Redbridge, Ilford, Barking and Dagenham.

These places accommodation a variety of homeless individuals, couples and families.

The residents come to the hostels for a variety of different reasons however they all have one thing in common they are without a HOME .

Many people are waiting for the local government to re-house them and this can take a very long time.

During this time they are replying on very limited funds. We take in donations of clothes, non-pershiable food, beddings, hygiene items, toys and unwanted presents though out the year.

These simple things makes huge difference for this vulnerable people living in such uncertain times.

End Period Poverty

Think how horrible it would be to be living on the streets on your period without a clean pad, being so skint that your last pound went to feed your child so you are having you old pants for comfort. Or even worst your teenage daughter not having the right provision to deal with starting puberty.

This items we all take for granted but so many woman are having to go without to support and feed themselves and their family that this go uncared for.

Do you have any spare boxes of Tampons, Sanitary pads, panty liners, Disposable razors, roll on deodorant, face wipes? We will be collecting these items for homeless woman and those in need. We will be giving all donations to the local homeless shelters, food banks, homeless hostels and woman refuges.

If you wish to help on this appeal please do contact S.M.I.L.E London & Essex

Donations Required

Barking and Dagenham Soup Kitchen are seeking companies to help sponsor or donate to our monthly soup kitchen.

Due to limited funds we are only able to cater for the most needy and benefit sanction individuals and families staying in Barking and Dagenham Homeless Hostels.

Currently there are over 200 people staying in four homeless hostels in Barking and Dagenham.

Many go without a regular healthy meal and with your help we can do our bit.

If you are able to help either on an one off or regular donation please contact Stephanie Akofe who is a volunteer for Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre in addition to being the soup kitchen sponsor through her company John Samuel Estate Agents through the link below.

S.M.I.L.E London - Essex are appealing for donations to help less fortunate families who are homeless and staying in council hostels.

As the summer holidays start approaching there are many things on parent's minds.

Planning days out, keeping the children occupied for 6 long weeks, then of course getting everything ready for the next academic year ahead.

For families living in hostels in Havering, Barking & Dagenham these 6 weeks are extremely long, there are extra meals to budget for as the children wont be having their Free School Meals, they need to think hard on things to do with their children for FREE as money is too tight and then have to start worrying about how they will afford all the needed 'tools' to start the next year in school.

Therefore this year we want to help. We will be taking in donations of new and good quality school items.
