How to use this guide
We have designed this guide as a useful reference guide for volunteers; if at any time you have any questions, please contact Joan, Kelly and Lynne who will be happy to help.
We think it is important that you know what is expected of you but also what you can expect in return. There are health and safety guidelines in place which we ask that you adhere to and we also provided the organisations who you volunteer for with guidelines for your safety asking that where necessary they provide an induction for volunteers and where appropriate the necessary protective clothing or safety equipment.
If you are unable to keep your volunteering commitment for any reason, please inform the necessary people in plenty of time so other arrangements can be made.

Does your organisation use Volunteers or would you like to involve them?
Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre can support you with recruitment of volunteers through advertising locally on our Facebook, Twitter and website in addition to our office database.
All you need to do is register with us and it’s all free of charge! We can only recruit volunteers for roles taking place in Barking & Dagenham and surrounding areas.
If you need lots of specialist volunteers or just one for a general role we can help. We have a bank of volunteers who we are able to contact if your role requires someone extra special or with unique skills.
We have a host of good practice resources and templates that will aid you with your volunteer management and offer free volunteer management training to organisations delivering services or projects in Barking and Dagenham .
To offer the complete service of recruitment we carry out DBS checks on all volunteers and each one is covered by our public liability insurance.
Please send your requirements together with your contact details to Joan and Lynne at Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre by clicking on the pink I need volunteers button below.
