Our lovely Kim who is trained in older people's strength & balance exercise and a qualified dance instructor definitly gets them moving.

We will provide you with leaflets to put through the doors in your road or block of flats to give them information of how we can help reduce their Isolation and how to meet new friends.

The Easter bunny came early

to Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre Wednesday Get Together Group members for those lonely, vulnerable and isolated residents all thanks to Tesco PLC Barking and Bouygues UK.

Had a fantastic day out with members of some of the Get Together Group members visiting Venture wildlife park and then onto the garden centre at Ware in Hertfordshire members were treated to a show which they experienced touching a snake which some held. An Owl ,hedgehog and a skunk one member who is 96 said to me that in her 96 years this was one of her best days out and the first time she touched a snake. A big thank you to all the volunteers who didn’t stop all day

To all the kind hearted members of staff who work for the London Borough of Dagenham donating toiletries and non perishable food to Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre Get Together Groups for the residents of the borough who are lonely, isolated and vulnerable.

Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre is celebrating Volunteers Week by visiting all our 13 Get Together Groups to thank all the Volunteers and making Presentations to them

We decided not to have one Volunteer Presentation but to have a Celebration at each Group do that the Isolated, Lonely Older Residents can thank their Volunteers as well as us.


The 13 Get Together Groups are run completely by Volunteers who give their time every week so that we can get our Older Residents out of their homes, enjoy meeting new friends, enjoy activities and combat their loneliness.

We need more Volunteers so that we can open more GTG Groups to get more Isolated, Lonely Older Residents out to enjoy themselves.

More Volunteering Awards given to Lisa Ann, Nicky & Christine celebrating volunteer week.

What an absolutely fantastic celebration today with lots of lovely people that we have worked with over the past few years.  Thank you to the lovely Madam Mayor Cllr Sanchia Alasia for attending and meeting everyone.

Members of the Volunteer Bureau Get Together are going in to show Business. A Partnership between The Volunteer Bureau and Studio Three are working on a Production to be Performed in September and October . It is a production bringing back memories of the songs and Dances of their Youth. Some of our Members were in the Fantastic Merchant of Venice which was produced by Studio Three and An Outdoor Production in Barking. For most of our Members this is a first time in Theatre. Under the Superb Tutoring and Support from Studio Three they are achieving so much and most importantly really enjoying the experience.

Silvernet a Partnership between Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre and Harmony House are inviting you to their Open Day on Wednesday 19th September at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club. Time 11.00am - 3.30pm.

Come along and see what our Get Together Groups for our Older ,Isolated and Lonely Residents. There will be members from all our Groups showing some of the Activities they do. There will also be various Activities you can join in. Refreshments will be served. If you know anybody who you feel would benefit by coming to a GTG or you would like to attend please come along and have a chat with us.

Printed Information will be available for you to take home. GTG'S are designed to offer People with Mobility Problems, Disability or Able Bodied a chance to come and meet new friends, learn new Skills and share Skills. We will help you to get Transport from and back to your home if you have Mobility Problems and want to come to a GTG . Please try to come to the One Day.

The members of Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Centre Get Together Groups performed tonight at studio 3 in front of a full house they were great all the practice they have done weekly for the last 6 months really showed the smiles on their faces showed the enjoyment they were having we were really proud of all of them.

Thank you so much Bismark. Laura for all your hard work and to Rosie Ross for allowing us us to be part of a great project.

Thank you to the families that came to support them it means a lot to them.

Lastly thank you to Liza Vallance and everyone at studio 3 for making us all feel so welcome we look forward to the next project.

What a Great Night. Thank you to all our lovely members who put in so much hard work to make this Performance happen. For me to sit and watch our Lovely members who were all aged between 60 and 96 enjoying themselves and feeling so proud to be performing was the best feeling in the world. The comments from the Audience were Amazing. Thank You Studio Three for once again giving our Members the chance to Perform . Shakespeare first , Music and Dance this time wonder what comes next.

The London Faith & Belief Commuity Awards 2018.

Last night Lynne , Marie and Ravi went along to receive the Promoting Inclusion Award which we won for our Silvernet Project in Barking and Dagenham.

The Award was Presented by Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London's Council on Faith.

Our Silvernet Project includes Our Get Together Groups, Silver Surfers, Telephone Befrienders Service and Practical Help at Home, which are all Services to help Isolated and Lonely Senior Residents.

Thank You to all the Volunteers who daily help us to offer these Services. Your care and devotion made this award possible.

Groups Open Day 2018

Because of the success of the Wednesday Get Together, we formed a partnership with Harmony House in 2016 and were been awarded funding from the National Lottery to open 17 Get Together Groups over the 3 years across the borough of Barking and Dagenham for older people and people with, learning difficulties, additional or supportive needs.

The extension is Silvernet a programme to stop any isolated resident spending everyday in their homes and allow them to participate actively within their local community.

A big thank you to Robert Clack school for a fantastic get together tonight. The pupils and the staff worked very hard to make sure all the guest were happy the hampers that the pupils had put together were lovely each guest went home with one once again thank you so much from the members of our groups

Members of our Burt Yates get together enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Hunters Hall primary schools Christmas concert today. All the children sang their hearts out. Thank you to all involved for inviting our members along to a fantastic concert

Members of our get together have had a very busy December. They have attended a Christmas party at harmony house an evening at Robert Clack school where they were entertained by pupils and staff and each one received a hamper to take home full of lovely things for Christmas. Also on Sunday we went along to Valance house museum where the staff laid on a lovely afternoon tea with fun and games. Today we attended Hunters hall Christmas concert and to end our festive celebrations on Wednesday 20 members at going to Brick lane music hall to enjoy a 3 course meal and to see Vincent’s Jingle pantomime It has been a very busy month as you can see. All this has been made possible with the dedication of all the volunteers that have given up time to help and support members at these events. We look forward to 2019 where we have more events planned.

What an end of year celebrations some of our Get Together members had today.

We went to brick lane music hall for a fantastic afternoon members enjoyed a three course meal followed by a fantastic show. I would like to thank once again our dedicated volunteers who yet again gave time up to come along and make sure our members had a good time Mark Frederick Nichols Ethel Marjorie Luke and Christine Edwards who spent her birthday helping others and Joan Brandon without you all this would not be possible

We had a lovely afternoon on Sunday hosting our second annual Community Christmas Tea Party. We were joined by members of the Get Together club from Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Bureau for food (kindly donated by Tesco), bingo and sing along carols courtesy of our local WI singing group. Great to see some familiar faces from last year for a cuppa and catch up. Big thanks to everyone who made this a fabulous festive afternoon

A Very Big Thank You to The Staff and Children of Hunters Hall School for inviting our Get Together Members to a Wonderful Carol Concert just before Xmas.

From the time we walked in to the School we felt the Happiness of all the Staff and Children.

There were so many children performing , serving refreshments and chatting to our Members.

Congratulations to the MusicTeacher who managed to put together such a Great Programme of Carols with so many Children taking part.

The School certainly gave us a feeling that this is a Happy School,
Smilefrom all the Staff and Children.
